Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is a red grape variety from north west Italy, which can be dated back to the 13th century for winegrowing. Deriving from the term 'nebbia' which means 'fog' in Italian, due to the grapes nature of a white powder-like bloom. These wines hold notes of cherries, coffee, and tar, with floral scents.
The recommended food pairings include foods that have a fat, oil or buttery content, and try to avoid foods that are too lean with these wines. Nebbiolo is rarely grown anywhere else but in Italy, however, Pierre Cros invested in this vine as part of his 'Liberte' collection.
